It is important that you read and understand the following:

Mountains are famously beautiful and exploring them is both rewarding and fascinating but mountain weather is notoriously unpredictable. You are responsible to assess the risks and requirements of the guided event based on your circumstances, limitations, fitness level and medical requirements. Although I have the necessary training and experience to deal with emergency situations in mountains, there is always the element of risk and danger no matter how prepared or experienced one is.

All participants are required to sign an indemnity form before taking part in any of our guided events.

On overnight hikes and multi day hikes we can only reschedule if advised by the reserve to do so. If the reserve cancels our booking (due to weather or emergency trail maintenance) they will either offer us a refund, partial refund or a new date. No refunds will be given, unless the reserve has refunded us and your refund will be dependent on what the reserve offers us. We can only offer what the reserve has given us. Proof of refund or new date from the reserve will be given, provided this is given to us in writing by the reserve. A R50 administration fee will be deducted for rescheduling. If the weather during the hike necessitates the evacuation off the route, no refund will be given. If a new date is given by the reserve, which does not work for you, a full refund will be offered, less a R50 admin fee.

We hike at a leisurely pace. If you feel you might be too too slow, it may be best to book a private hike. If you feel you might be too fast, we are happy to suggest alternative guides to accommodate your pace.

If you are part of a group hike and there is a concern for your health, we may turn you back early in the hike where it is safe or where the rangers can reach you. This will be for your safety, and refunds cannot be given under these circumstances.

All hikes start at the time scheduled. Sometimes the start time might be adjusted due to weather, traffic issues, etc. Any time-changes will be communicated to you in writing at least 24 hours before the start of the event where possible. We will wait a few minutes before starting a day hike, but if you arrive late, you will have to catch up. If you need to leave the hike early, for your own safety you will only be allowed to do so if there are other group members willing to walk back with you.

Please note our basic cancellation policy:

Day hikes:

• No refund will be offered if a day hike is cancelled less than 48 hours before the start of the hike, for whatever reason, other than bad weather.
• 50% refund offered if a day hike is cancelled between 2 and 7 days before the start of the hike, for whatever reason other than bad weather.
• Full refund (less R50 admin fee) offered if a day hike is cancelled more than 7 days before the hike.

Overnight hikes, multi day hikes and weekends away:
As we need to make full payment upfront and far in advance to confirm our booking (sometimes up to 12 months), no refunds will be given unless someone from the waiting list can take your spot – in which case a full refund will be offered, less a R50 admin fee. We cannot guarantee a replacement for you, but all efforts will be made to find a replacement for your spot.

• If a booking takes places more than 60 days before the event, a 50% deposit is payable with booking.
• BALANCE of payment is due a minimum of 60 days before the start of the event. If balance is not paid 60 days before the start of the event, we may regard booking as cancelled and rebook the vacancy.
• If booking less than 60 days in advance the full price is payable with booking.

In the event of cancellation due to dangerous weather or cancellation by the reserve, you will have the option to postpone your event to the next available date or be refunded. We cannot guarantee that there will be availability on the same route, and will do our best to accommodate you. Should the booking be cancelled by the organizer for any reason, a full refund will be issued.

• Transport to and from hikes are not included. Car pools are generally available with petrol share in place.
• Accommodation on route to overnight and multi day hikes are not included (unless otherwise specified).
